Consulting / subscription commerce

Candy Club Was a Consulting Job, Not a Fairy Tale About Ten Million Dollars

The useful part of the story is the model we built, not an inflated revenue number from somewhere on the internet.

I had forgotten how much candy was physically in the house until the photos showed it back to me.

Candy Club packing at the house: rows of jars, cartons, and the very physical reality behind a subscription model.
The home-business layer was never separate from family life.

Candy Club was a consulting engagement. It was Australia-based when we worked with it. We did not invent candy, and I am not claiming ownership of the company. What we did was help turn the model into a subscription machine.

The mental ingredients were hilariously cross-industry: Sock of the Month Club, LuLaRoe, Color Street, Younique, recurring membership behavior, surprise, community, and a product people could talk about without needing a dissertation.

When the company moved harder into the United States during the COVID period, that earlier architecture mattered. What I care about preserving here is the pattern: I kept taking customer journeys from one industry and transplanting the useful mechanics into another one.

Correction preserved: Do not publish the earlier “$10 million in 2018” claim as fact. Jamie specifically rejected that number as inconsistent with what she knew when the consulting relationship began.
